Pigg, Lucretia (b. 25 NOV 1841, d. 1928)

Note: BIOGRAPHY: The Pigg line has been very difficult to trace. There are many different families who all live in the same area of Kentucky, and named their children the same names generation after generation. To make things even more complicated, they lived with one another, so the census records may show children of one sibling living with an aunt or uncle

JOHN CLARK BULLOCK was a son of DAVID WHITE BULLOCK & MARY ABOTT. David White was born in 2/13/1789 of [James Bullock and Ann Waller) The bracketed part is error. James Bullock was born in Virginia in 1735; came to KY in 1780 to 85. DAVID W married

Bullock, Edward (b. Abt 1670, d. Bet 1735-1739)
Note: Edward's date of birth also given as 1665 in New Kent County, VA Date of death also given as 1758.
Marriage also listed as 1679 in Hanover County, Virginia, I suspect this one is true or there would have been two wives.

Researchers disagree regarding the children of this union... many do not list James or Micajah, and others also list David. Clift only lists John, David, Dorothy, Richard and Edward which are from the book Dalby Family History; A typed history written by a son of Warren Knight Dalby. Written c.1970 at age 94 and published by Norman Leonard Dalby.

Many researchers list Sarah Dalby as the spouse of this Edward, and this is certainly possible, but most researchers refer to her as the daughter of Knightingale Dalby and listing children of Sarah and Edward, the son of Micajah. There is considerable proof of the indentities of these two individuals. See further notes regarding them. I have no proof that the spouse of the Edward born abt 1670 is a Dalby, therefore I have listed here as Unknown.

BIOGRAPHY OF WILLIAM B. BULLOCK
Sheriff of Owsley County, Kentucky was born in that county, Jan 31, 1849. His father, John C. Bullock, a native of Irvine, Estill County, Ky., was born November 1812, and was engaged in farming and mining the greater portion of his early life; later in life he joined the Federal army, and died in 1865 from disease contracted while in service. He was a son of David Bullock, also a native of Kentucky, whose parents were natives of Virginia, and among the earliest settlers of the territory, now known as Kentucky. David Bullock was a practical school teacher in his day, having spent nearly all his life at that occupation. He was one of the very best informed men of his day. He served as magistrate for a number of years. John C. Bullock married Miss Isabella Bowman a daughter of Thomas Bowman, of Owsley, and became the father of 12 children, viz: Paulina J., Armina, Amanda, Thomas T., David and Mary (twins), Wm. B., John C., Franklin P., George S., Edward H. and Felix. William B. Bullock was brought up on the farm and received a common school education, and was one of the very best of the common school teachers of Clay County, it being the county in which he taught for 13 years. He was also engaged in agricultural pursuits until 1881, in which he was very successful. He then engaged in the mercantile business, first in 1884, being one of the firm of Bullock & Hammons. He was then elected sheriff of Owsley County, being re-elected in 1886. May 11, 1871, he married Miss Nancy Smith, a daughter of Robert and Mary Smith, of Owsley County, whose ancestors formerly were emigrants of North Carolina, and one child has blessed their union, Laura. Mr. Bullock is a member of the F. & A. M., and casts his vote with the Republican Party.

Bullock, David White (b. 13 FEB 1789, d. 13 NOV 1849)
Note: A David Bullock is listed on the 1810 Clay County KY Census being between the age of 16 and 26. This would be right for the birthdate given. He is listed as head of household with female also between the age of 16 and 26. This also would be the right age for Mary Abbet (spelled several different ways.)
This is the only Bullock listed, and no Bullock is listed on the 1820 Census. The following deposition is on record in Estill County KY. "The deposition of David W. Bullock was taken at the house of Carnelious Thomas of Estill Co. Ky. on October 3, 1838, and said Bullock made oath that on the 13th of Feb. next he will be 50 years of age". (which establishes his birth date as 2/13/1789) "That he was raised in Fayette Co. Ky. and that at the first dawn of recolection...He knew Lawrence Ward and his wife Elizabeth: That they lived in Fayette Co. Ky...."
Estill Co. records show that David W. Bullock was a one time J. P. of that county. That he was a County Court Clerk and that he was a Judge of the County Court. The land records show that he bought and sold several tracts of land in Estill & Owsley Cos. His wife Mary's name is on some of the Grantor Deeds.
1820 Census of Estill County lists one Bullock family:- David W. Bullock, 2 males under 10, 1 male under 46, 2 females under 10, 1 female under 46. This census is in agreement with the children listed in the family Bible of Patterson C. Bullock collaborated by his son C. N. Bullock of Jackson, TN & Guntown, Mississippi 3/25/1924

20 May 1839 - Cornelius Moore appointed Surveyor of the road from the Widow Fox Spring to the Clay Co. Line on the Bowman Road to the Rock Shoal in place of David W. Bullock. His hand be from the mount of Buffalo up to the Clay Co. Line, then up the South Fork of the Kentucky River to the Clay Co. Line to include Andrew Mays, Wesley Reynolds, Filson Ward, Patrick Hamilton, William Bowles and William Allen.

I know nothing about Mary Abott. The marriage certificate lists James Abbot as Bondsman Court Record Clay Co KY There is a James Abbot in the 1810 Census Clay Co, Kentucky
James Abbet 1 m under 10; 1 m 26-45; 2 f under 10; 1f 26-45 Since Mary Abbot was born in 1786, and was 24 at the time of her marriage, I suspect that although it is possible that she is a daughter, it is more likely that she is a sister of James.

There is a good deal of speculation regarding a second marriage, but I have found no documentation for this and have listed all of the children born to this marriage.
