Note: Son of James Garland and Mary Helen Rice

The daughters of Elizabeth Bullock and Robert Garland, Anna R. Garland, Clara S. Garland, Amanda Melvina Garland and Rebecca C. Bullock, Lewis* (b. 24 FEB 1764, d. Abt 1828)
Note: LINEAGE: "Bullocks of Virginia and Kentucky" compiled by Nada Binnion Fuqua (located at Pulaski Co. Hist. Lib.)

The biography is for Robert Bullock, but it shows his brother Lewis Bullock. Since Lewis Ping was probably named after his maternal grandfather as was the convention, for now I have assumed that Lewis Bullock is the father of Elizabeth.

Lewis' father and grandfather, as well as his wife, is from the same.

Chinn, Mary (b. 27 APR 1774, d. ?)
Note: Mormon Ancestral File (1987), "Descendants of John Chynn" shows a
Mary Chinn b. 1771 of Lancaster, Virginia as the daughter of Robert Chinn and
Elizabeth Belfield (from CD-ROM 24 Oct 1991).
b) Aker, M. B. (1952). "Bullocks of Virginia and Kentucky and their
Descendants", page 9.
Note:Mary Jane Chinn, daughter of Robert Chinn and Elizabeth Belfield, married Isaac Bowman.

The Mary Chinn who married Lewis Bullock I had as the daughter of Rawleigh and Penelope Chinn, but Penelope would have been 7 years old if Mary was born in 1774. I will keep looking for Mary's parents.

Bullock, Rice* (b. 17 DEC 1755, d. ?)
Note: Note: Rice Bullock was a member of the Virginia Constitutional Convention that ratified the Constitution of the United States. He represented Kentucky County.

"Randolph County had two delegates in that famous convention, Colonel Benjamin Wilson and his brother John. The other members from what is now West Virginia were Berkeley County, William Drake and Adam Stephen; Greenbrier, George Glendenin and John Stuart; Hampshire, Alexander Wodrow and Ralph Humphreys; Harrison, George Jackson and John Prunty; Hardy, Isaac Van Meter and Abel Seymour; Jefferson, Robert Breckenridge and Rice Bullock; Mercer, Thomas Allen and Alexander Robertson; Monogalia, John Evans and William McCleary; Ohio, Archibald Woods and Ebenezer Zane"

I have photos of two Warrants for Rev. Military Service granting a total of 2,666 2/3 acres of land for three years of military service as a subaltern in the Virginia State Line dated June 1784.
Subaltern...Chiefly British term meaning holding a military rank just below that of captain. He is also listed as a member of the 15th Virginia Regiment (3rd Division, 3rd Brigade) as a Quartermaster.

He is named in the will but is not named in any of the other Louisa Co. or Hanover Co documents I have found.

In Executive Journal of the Northwest Territory, 1788-1803,("In it are recorded all of the official acts and communiques of the governor, Arthur St. Clair, and the secretary, Winthrop Sargent. Singly and individually, it is the most important historical manuscript dealing with the Northwest Territory from its inception in 1788 to its demise with the creation of the state of Ohio. This transcription is an attempt to make as true a copy as possible of the original.") we find "The Governor … appointed Rice Bullock Auditor of Public accounts of the Territory.
