HARRALSON, Paul (b. 1669, d. 5 APR 1734)
Note: Paul Harralson, Jr. married Patience Lewis. This family resided in New Kent and Hanover Counties, Virginia during the early 1700's, and then moved to South Carolina around 1744. Their daughter, Dorothy, married Martin Davenport. (and their daughter, Mary, married Henry Gambill/Gambrell)

The Harralson Family was from Holland. It is said that they are direct descendants of Harold Fairhair, King of Norway, who reigned from 863-933 AD. Since Norway was under Denmark control for years and Peter Harralson was a captain in the Danish Army, it is believed that the Harralson Family was located in Holland due to religious or commercial aspects. In their newly adopted land, the name may be spelled Harroldson, Harrilson, Harrildson, Harralson, Harrelson, etc.

Paul Harralson ( 16 __ - ) and Rebecca came to America during the late 1600's with their grown children. These children included Peter, Paul, Anna Childs, and Judith. Paul's will was recorded in 1718, in Hanover County, Virginia, and proved on 5 April 1734.

Paul Harralson, Jr. ( ) petition the Virginia House of Burgess in 1702, for naturalization. He married Patience Lewis before 1707. Their children were Paul III, William, Joseph, Benjamin, Dorothy, Prudence, and Patience. Paul leased 360 acres of land in 1705 in New Kent County, Virginia. There are numerous records, between 1715 and 1743, available in the Vestry Book of St. Paul's Parish in Hanover County, Virginia for Paul, Jr. or Sr. and other family members. These listings involved clearing roads, and forming precincts and appointing overseers for them. A Paul Harralson also obtained a 400-acre land grant in Hanover County, Virginia on 24 Mar 1725. Either Paul II or III's signature appears, along with Dorothy's, on settling Martin Davenport, Sr.'s estate in 1735, in the same county. Paul and Patience moved to the Wateree River, South Carolina area around 1744, where a record exist for a land petition, and where Paul was paid 50 pounds by the Fredericksbourgh Township for establishing a water mill. Paul and Patience probably died in an Indian uprising in that area around 1750.

Hence, when Dorothy and Martin were married, the Harralson, Lewis, and Davenport Families were united.
