Scholl, Peter Capt. (b. Bef 1690, d. Bef 1779)
Note: BIOGRAPHY: John and brother Peter were the first Scholls of Dutch descent from Holland and arrived in North America after 1750 [sic]. They settled originally in Virginia and John later went on an expedition to Ohio against the French and was attacked and killed by Indians.

BIOGRAPHY: Per the Scholl, Sholl, Shull Genealogy, Peter appeared early in the Shenandoah Valley. Capt. Peter Scholl was on the muster roll of Augusta Cty in 1742; was made justice in Augusta Cty in December 1745; commissioned Coroner 14 April 1746 and served a number of years; commissioned Captain of a company of infantry, 19 August and Colonel 21 Aug 152; lived on "Reed Creek" in 1852; served as appraiser and surety on various occasions: In 23 Feb 1764 he received as a bequest by Will from Rev. Philip Charles Vangemunday his son George Frederick Peter, evidently as a ward, and was there called Col. Peter Scholl. Finally on 25 May 1765 as Peter Scholl, in behalf of the Presbyterian Church, he became as co-trustee with Michael Neise a grantee of land "for the Glory of God and the Preaching of his Precious Gospel" three acres granted by Adam Reider and Alexander Painter and their wives. This Deed was not delivered until 16 Jan 1785, but it is not necessary to assume that Col. Peter Scholl was still living at the delivery date, though he would have been slightly over 90 if he were alive. The data show he was a man of mature years upon arrival in the Valley in 1742.
