The following notes are taken from Memorial Record of Western Kentucky, Lewis Publishing Company, 1904, pp 693-695 [Fulton]

EDWARD IRVIN BULLOCK, deceased, was born in Culpeper County, Virginia. At the age of nineteen years he left his native state and came to Kentucky, locating in Cumberland county, where he married Maria Emmerson, a native of Cumberland county, born near the town of Berksville. Her parents were John M. and Sallie Emmerson, natives of Kentucky.

Edward I. Bullock received his education in William and Mary College, of Virginia, in which he graduated, and after his marriage he located at Berksville, Kentucky. Being a civil engineer, he was elected surveyor of his county, and later was admitted to the bar and began practice. He was later made state's attorney, being appointed by Governor Clark, and was serving in that office at the time of the celebrated murder case of the State vs. Judge Wilkerson, Mrs. Wilkerson and Murdough for the murder of John Rothwell and Alexander H. Meeks, in March, 1839, one of the most celebrated cases in Kentucky jurisprudence, and the full history of which may be found in "Carlton on Homicide." Subsequently Mr. Bullock removed to what is now Hickman, Kentucky, and was the first county attorney of Fulton county, also representing that county in the legislature. His next location was at Clinton, to which place he removed in 1854, and from there removed in 1857 to his country home two and a half miles east of Columbus, where he remained until his death, February 13, 1883. He continued in the practice of law until his death, served as circuit judge by appointment and was one of the codifiers of the general statute of Kentucky in the year 1873, which was adopted by the general assembly. In his political affiliations he was first a Whig and alter a Democrat, in his fraternal relations was a Master Mason and was a member of the Episcopal church. He was an able attorney, advocate and jurist and was a splendid trial lawyer.

Five of the children born to Mr. and Mrs. Bullock died in infancy and the remainder are: John, who died in 1857 and was an able lawyer of Hickman; Harriet, the widow of R. W. Walker; Hettie, a widow now living at Arlington, Kentucky; Edward Thomas; Pinkie, the widow of John G. Samuels and a resident of Clinton; and Mary, widow of C. T. Rudd, of Stocksville, Mississippi. Mrs. Bullock died in 1880, aged about sixty-five years.

Edward Thomas Bullock was born in Hickman, Kentucky, September 13, 1847, and studied law under L. D. Husbands, of Paducah. He was admitted to the bar in 1870, and for the following five years practiced at Paducah, since which time he has followed his profession in Hickman county. His political support is given to the Democratic party, and religiously he is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. In 1872 Mr. Bullock was united in marriage to Miss Bettie Pettit, of Princeton, Kentucky, and she bore him one son, E. T., Jr., a steamboat engineer. Mrs. Bullock died in 1875, and he was afterward married to Mrs. Della Reid, nee Cobb, by whom he has one child, Della.

Note: The following information was furnished to me by Mary Browder in July 1990. According to a letter included with this information it had been forwarded to "my Uncle Gus (Alonzo Augustus Donoho) on 30 May 1947 by Estella Bullock."

Glover Family Record

In the 17th century a man named William Glover set up the first printing press in one of the early colonies. It is not known if he was the ancestor of the Glovers in Barren County or not.

Jane Elizabeth Glover was never married.
Martha married Soloman Holland Dickinson.
William Ripley Glover has no record of being married.

Minerva, Nancy, and Martha are buried at Poplar Log Cemetery in Barren County. William Ripley and John Allen are buried at the old Glover burying ground on the farm owned for many years by William and Charity Wilson Glover. The unmarked graves in the burying ground are presumed to be those of William and Charity Glover. The other unmarked grave that of Walter Glover or his wife or the wife of Joseph Glover.

Jane Elizabeth Glover is buried at a cemetery not far from Park City. Walnut Hill or Walnut Grove or some name like that. The house in which William and Charity Wilson Glover lived is still standing and the farm on which they lived is owned by Mr. Zeke Jones and his heirs.

The following information was taken from data provided to me by Mary Browder in July 1990. It came from the Bullock family history which had been sent to my Uncle Gus (Alonzo Agustus Donoho) in 1947 by Estella Bullock.

John Waller Bullock born in Culpepper County Va. 4 May 1807, attended school at Danville, Ky., about 10 miles from Perryville where his father and mother; Edward and Hannah Clark Bullock lived. They moved to Barren County in 1827 and resided on a farm in Skaggs Creek near Temple Hill, which was conveyed to Edward and Hannah Clark Bullock and their children by David Bullock who lived in Richmond Virginia. Edward had eleven brothers and sisters who lived to manhood and womanhood. John Waller Bullock married Minerva Glover in Barren County in 1833.

The following are the children of John Waller Bullock and Minerva Glover:
Harriet Rebecca born 2 October, 1834, died ?, buried at Pollar Log. Married Wyatt B. Goad. Date of death on tombstone.
Edward Bullock born 6 December, 1836, died 22 December, 1840. Burial place unknown.
William Allen Bullock born 18 December, 1838, died 18 March, 1915. Married Martha Jane McPherson and then Mrs. Victoria Edwards Miller. Buried at Horse Cave, KY. His first wife was the mother of Donna Bullock and John H. Bullock.
Robert Lewis Bullock, born 28 October, 1840, died April 1862. A Lieutenant in the Union Army.
Thomas Jefferson Bullock born 28 July, 1843, died 11 April, 1925. Buried at Poplar Log. Married Jennie Patia Shirley of Monroe County, 20 January, 1878. They were the parents of Quintella, Estella, Tommie Allen, and Robert Ernest Bullock.
Hannah Clark Bullock born 10 December, 1846, married Harvey C. Donoho in Barren County in 1868. Children were: Annie, Mary, Mattie, Edward, Augustus, Luther and Hattie.
Clara Garland Bullock born 21 April, 1848, died at Glasgow. Buried at Eighty Eight. Married William Oliver. Children were Annie, Rolly, William, Pearl and Webb Oliver. She was married in Barren County.
Annie Bullock born 1850,died in Hart County Ky,. married Joseph Meridith. Children were: Minnie and John Thomas Meridith.
John Walter Bullock born 7 April, 1853, died 10 June, 1888. Married Sallie Meridith. Children were Homer, Hattie, and John Allen. Buried at Poplar Log.

Additional Notes
John Waller Bullock was a prominent school teacher in Barren County, prior to and after the establishment of free schools. Two of his sons, William Allen and Robert Lewis enlisted in the Union Army at the beginning of the Civil War. Robert Lewis as a Lieutenant of the 21st Kentucky Infantry. Lieutenant Bullock died as a result of exposure brought about while assisting one of the men in his company cross a stream.. Lieutenant Bullock was mounted and the soldier was walking. When they approached the stream the foot soldier hesitated and the Lieutenant offered his mount to the sick soldier, wading the stream himself. The lieutenant was recovering from the measles and took relapse from which he never recovered.

William Allen Bullock sevred four years in the army after which he studied law and procticed in Barren and adjoining counties. He was co-founder with Fleming Page of the Glasgow, Republican. He was the father of Miss Donna Bullock of Cave City, Kentucky, and John H. Bullock of Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Thomas Jefferson Bullock, born July 28, 1843, the fourth son of John Waller and Minerva Glover Bullock practiced medicine in Barren and Monroe Counties for some fifty years. He could well be called the "Country Doctor". He practiced during that period when the doctor carried his stock of drugs in his saddle bags. It is stated that he never lost a case of pneumonia during his many years of practice. His chief concern was how to cure and alleviate the ills of the poor and rich alike, never taking into consideration whether he would receive pay or not. Truly, if so inclined, the Bullocks could boast of their heritage. It will be noted that the names of Edward Bullock's children do not agree with those submitted by R. Lee Hargrove. It will be observed that some have been added and some left out. I have not attempted to make any corrections.
